Dangers of Obesity

Obesity is defined as BMI of greater than 30. BMI is calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by height as meter square.

Obesity is risk factor for coronary artery disease and can lead to heart attack, stroke and leg amputations.

Obesity can lead to Hypertension, Diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and low HDL.

Obesity can be a cause of Sleep Apnea, Asthma, and can lead to accumulation of carbon dioxide.

Obesity increases risk of breast cancer and several other types of cancer and also increased death rate from them.

Obesity can increase chance of blood clot in legs and lungs.

Obesity can lead to Depression and low self esteem.

Obesity increases over all mortality and morbidity due to all above reasons.
